In an un-insulated home the heat loss through the walls count around the 35 %.  Above all, if your home was built before 1920s is likely to be constructed with solid brick walls without cavity. This means that is much easier for the heat to escape. There are around 7 million homes in UK built with solid wall and for them a Cavity Wall Insulation is simply not possible. Furthermore, your home could have some typical architectural features or a charm face that you would not change.

The solutions to all these problems is an Internal Wall Insulation.

Internal Wall Insulation is done by fitting rigid boards to the wall or by building a stud wall lining filled with mineral wool insulation between. The work is finished covering it with plasterwork. Internal Wall Insulation helps your home to become warmer inside and to not alter its appearance outside.

Installing Internal Wall Insulation, allow you to save up to £460 per year and 1.8 tonnes of Carbon Dioxide emissions in Atmospheres.

Unlike the External Wall Insulation, the Internal Wall Insulation has got a cheaper price, with prices ranging from £5500 to £8500, depending of the number of the rooms to be insulated.

The thickness of the Internal Wall Insulation is around 100mm (4”) that will slightly reduce the floor area of any rooms in which it is applied.

Solid Wall Insulation Grant.

Under the ECO initiative to improve UK’s energy efficiency, the Carbon Emissions Reduction Obligation (CERO) has funding for the solid-walled homes and for the Hard to treat properties. CERO works as a non-repayable grant funding.  Anyone living in a solid-walled property is entitled to funding regardless of age, income or benefit entitlement.
