Who Are We?

The British Board of Agrément (BBA) is the UK's major authority offering approval and inspection services to manufacturers and installers supplying the construction industry. Originally set up in 1966 by Government, but now an independent non- profit distributing organisation, the BBA's certification and inspection services are recognised by building control, local authorities, industry insurers and key trade associations in the construction industry.

Our Mission

The BBA's mission is to provide reassurance to manufacturers, users, specifiers, insurers and regulators of construction products and systems and to encourage the safe development and adoption of innovative construction solutions via the:

  • Assessment, testing, approval and certification of products and systems for the construction industry against national requirements, internationally recognised standards or other relevant technical specifications
  • Inspection and certification of manufacturing sites for the above to confirm consistency of production
  • Inspection of the installation of products and systems through independent or government sponsored schemes, such as the Fenestration Self Assessement (FENSA)
  • Assessment of the competence of installers, contractors, designers or other parties working in the construction industry
